The story
Grand Theft Auto V: Story Mode is an add-on for the standalone version of Grand Theft Auto Online. Players can experience the interwoven stories of Franklin, Michael, and Trevor across the sun-soaked metropolis of Los Santos and the backwoods' countryside of Blaine County in greater detail than ever before with stunning all new levels of visual detail. The game shares the same San Andreas map, although set in 2013.
What it’s like
Sun-bleached and restless, with the bright, hazy glare of Southern California at midday and the amber wash of its sunsets spilling across palm-lined boulevards, glassy Vinewood hills, and dusty Blaine County backroads. The open world feels dense and alive: traffic thickens and thins, radio stations spill out of open car windows, and the city's crowds drift through sprawling neon-lit streets after dark. Its sound is a constant patchwork of talk radio, classic rock, hip-hop, and sudden bursts of gunfire, with the score swelling only at set-piece moments. Missions run in brisk, cinematic bursts, cutting between three crooks whose lives keep colliding, and the mood swings from mordant comedy to tense, bloody heists. Violence is frequent, stylised, and often graphic, with vehicle mayhem, shootouts, torture scenes, and crude sexual humour, so it is not a gentle play. It suits late-night sessions, restless weekends, and players who want a chaotic, satirical sandbox with a tongue-in-cheek edge and a sense of unpredictable freedom.
