The story

Forgotten Gods takes the apocalyptic fantasy world of Grim Dawn to distant lands with a massive new chapter in humanity’s struggle against otherworldly and divine threats. Unleash new mobility powers, gather powerful new items and venture into a brand-new game mode with endless replayability.

What it’s like

Dusk-dark isometric landscapes in muddy browns, bruised purples and sickly green, with ember-orange glow from campfires, torches and spell effects cutting through the gloom. Its world is grimy and weathered, all cracked stone, rust and rotting wood, and the lands beyond the familiar roads feel stranger and more hostile, with sun-scorched ruins and unfamiliar ruins under heavy skies. The sound is a constant bed of wind, distant howls and clanging metal, with percussive, meaty combat that rewards committing to a fight. Vibe: grimy, driven, and quietly ominous, a dark-fantasy grind that suits a late evening alone, a long weekend session with friends, or a stretch of background play while doing something else. Pacing is brisk and relentless, with loot drops and new abilities arriving often, and the emotional register stays grim and determined rather than warm. Combat is frequent and fairly brutal, with blood spatter, grotesque creatures and cult-like horrors, but gore stays stylised and fear comes from overwhelming numbers rather than sustained horror. It is for players who want a gritty, build-tinkering action RPG with a heavy, dark atmosphere and easy co-op.
