The story

Two zanies open a photography studio. They score a partnership with a gossip magazine that suddenly thrusts them into a world of corruption, murder, and hijinks.

What it’s like

Bright, overcrowded frames of early-1980s Bombay: sunlit streets full of traffic and clutter, cramped studios and offices lit by flat tube-light and harsh daylight through dusty windows, and a sweaty, restless heat that sits on every scene. The camera mostly stays close and busy, with quick cuts, crowded compositions, and running gags packed into corners of the frame, so the pace feels like a jostling marketplace. The score is light and bouncy, punctuated by sudden stings that cue the next pratfall. Violence is comic and slapstick, including a corpse-and-cover-up storyline played for farce, with no real gore. The tone is cheeky, sardonic, and gleefully cynical about the press, politics, and small-time ambition, and the two bumbling protagonists are caught in a chain of escalating schemes that grows more absurd and frantic as it goes. It suits a lively weekend afternoon, a laugh-out-loud group watch, or a rewatch for anyone who enjoys sharp satire wrapped in chaos. It is for viewers who want a fast, irreverent comedy with a satirical edge, not something soft or gentle.
