The story
London, an overcrowded cafe, one table to share. Two strangers tell each other “how I met my fiancé” stories to kill time. Rikki met his fiance Anaida at the Ritz in Paris and Alvira met her prince charming Steve at Madame Tussauds
What it’s like
Bright, saturated postcard colour and buoyant song-and-dance set pieces, with sun-washed European streets, glossy hotel interiors, and a lot of movement through crowded frames. Its camera is busy and celebratory, the sound a mix of big orchestral Hindi film songs, bouncing tempos and cheerful pop, with punchy comic timing in between. The mood is warm, playful and frothy, the kind of cosy escapism that suits a lazy weekend afternoon, a comfort rewatch, or an evening when you want something light enough to half-follow while you cook. Its rhythm is brisk and musical, interrupting its romantic comedy with flashback-style storytelling and exuberant dance numbers. The emotional register stays upbeat, following two mismatched, self-absorbed people who start out sceptical of love and gradually loosen up. Intensity is low: romance and flirtation, some mild suggestive humour, no graphic violence, no gore, and little real menace. Made for people who want a gentle, glittering, sing-along romance with plenty of colour and charm.
