The story

Sanjay, a carefree young man, experiences mental and physical transformation to compete in an inter-collegiate bicycle race after his elder brother is unable to participate due to an injury.

What it’s like

Bright, sunlit 1990s studio colour, with saturated campus costumes, open country roads and wide shots of cyclists against sky and hills, all in the warm, glossy look of a Hindi musical. The mood is buoyant and good-natured, a mix of teasing comedy, romance and sporting determination that feels like a Sunday afternoon with the windows open. Songs punctuate the story with big, melodic set pieces, and the training stretches move at a brisk, cheerful clip, so it works as a feel-good watch for a lazy weekend or a light evening with company. The emotional register stays playful and earnest: a carefree young man slowly takes his responsibilities seriously, and the arc is about confidence and effort rather than grief or cruelty. Intensity is low. There is some slapstick, a little romantic teasing and the physical strain of racing, but no graphic violence, gore or dread. It suits viewers who want a warm, uplifting and sentimental romp with music, and it will appeal to fans of classic Bollywood sports and romance films.
