The story
Prepare your decks and go on a pilgrimage through the wasteland! Nowhere Prophet is a unique single-player card game. Travel across randomly generated maps and lead your followers in deep tactical combat. Discover new cards and build your deck as you explore this strange, broken world.
What it’s like
Dusty sepia and bleached ochre dominate the screen, with hand-drawn, comic-inked figures standing against flat wasteland backdrops that feel like faded illustrations in a battered sketchbook. The overworld is a scatter of roads and nodes you pick through on a map that is different every run, and the sound is sparse: a low, hollow drone, distant wind, and the occasional clink of cards settling into place. Battles unfold as turn-based card duels with a deliberate, measured rhythm, each play weighing on the next, while the wider journey moves in short, unhurried stretches broken by odd encounters and strange little stories. Its mood is wry, desolate and quietly absurd, the sort of post-apocalyptic melancholy with a dry grin underneath. The violence is present but stylised and cartoonish, mostly abstract damage numbers and brief clashes, with no gore and little sense of cruelty. It suits a late-evening session when you want something to think through, a comfort game for a slow weekend, or a long run of short sessions. It is for players who enjoy deckbuilding strategy, roguelike replayability, and a bleak world told with a light touch.
