The story
High school student Junpei Kousaka is allergic to cats—unfortunately for him he is surrounded by cat lovers and is cursed with an ability to understand cat speech.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated anime colours on a high-school palette of pastel uniforms, sunlit classrooms and cherry-blossom and summer-green schoolgrounds, with a soft, cheerful digital finish and clean, simple character linework. The camera stays chatty and quick, cutting between reaction shots and comic beats, and the sound design leans on bouncy pop-leaning incidental music, exaggerated sound effects and voice performances that go big for every punchline. The vibe is bubbly, warm and silly, with the odd flicker of sweetness, the kind of easy background watch that suits a weekend afternoon, a comfort rewatch or something to put on while folding laundry. Pacing is brisk and episodic, built around small misunderstandings and cat-related chaos rather than any sustained tension. Its violence is nil and its romance stays light, with flirtation and crushes played for laughs and a good deal of physical comedy, though the harem setup means some fan-service glances and mildly suggestive moments. The emotional register is comic and lighthearted, with an affectionate streak toward its ensemble of cat-loving classmates. It suits viewers who want gentle, goofy romcom energy and cute animal humour, and is less suited to anyone seeking restraint or a grounded romance.
