The story

In 1988, young sisters Katie and Kristi befriend an invisible entity who resides in their home.

What it’s like

Grainy, flickering home-video footage shot on wobbly handheld and fixed security-style cameras, with the washed-out, slightly warm palette of late-1980s tape. Much of it is locked-off framing of a suburban kitchen, hallway and bedroom in dim lamplight or the blue-grey of night-vision, with long stretches where nothing moves and the only sound is the hum of the camera, a distant dog, or a child's chatter. Its dread is slow and procedural: creaks, a door easing open, a sheet shifting, a wrongness that builds across patient cuts rather than jump scares. The vibe is uneasy, domestic nostalgia, the sort of late-night, lights-off unease that suits a Halloween viewing or a solo watch with the volume low. Its intensity is moderate: frightening and tense, with a few sudden shocks and some disturbing imagery, but no gore and no sexual content. Its bonds between the two sisters, and the sense of a family's secrets surfacing, give the fear an emotional undertow. It is for people who want a slow-burn haunting that feels like found footage from a childhood they half remember, and who enjoy dread over spectacle.
