The story
The former child stars of the Soda Poppers TV show are wreaking havoc all over the neighborhood! But this is no ordinary tale of child stars gone awry. There's a dark force behind the Poppers' baffling antics.
What it’s like
Bright, cartoonish flatness: bold outlines, saturated primary colours and flat-shaded backgrounds that look like a comic book come to life, with a sun-washed suburban street and cluttered rooms full of gags to poke at. The sound is bouncy and playful, a jaunty comedic score under wisecracking voice acting that carries most of the personality, with little in the way of silence. It feels like a loose Saturday-morning cartoon you can steer: point-and-click moves are unhurried, with the pleasure coming from clicking every object to hear the joke it provokes. Vibe: zany, irreverent, light-hearted fun with a sly deadpan streak. It suits a lazy afternoon, a comfort replay, or an evening when you want to laugh out loud without thinking too hard. Pacing is brisk and episodic, with short scenes and frequent punchlines, and the emotional register stays breezy throughout, anchored by the odd-couple friendship between a hyperactive rabbity detective and his calm, deadpan partner. Intensity is low: slapstick mayhem, cartoon peril and some mild bad-taste humour, but no gore and no real menace. For people who want a funny, gentle adventure with a strong comic voice.
