The story

Reboot is an expansion pack for the critically acclaimed Space Rangers 2: Rise of the Dominators. It adds new missions, equipment, maps, and other additional content to the original game.

What it’s like

Sprite-based 2D art gives the galaxy a bright, slightly storybook look: starfield backdrops, chunky little ships, and a colourful sector map that reads like a wall chart. Combat is a brisk top-down skirmish of laser streaks and quick bursts of sparks, but much of the time goes to quieter stretches of scanning planets, haggling over cargo, and tinkering with weapons and crew between jobs. The soundtrack leans on bouncy synth loops with sci-fi chatter in the background. Pacing is episodic and unhurried, and the tone is light and mildly comic rather than grim. Violence is abstract and bloodless, with ships breaking apart in puffs of light and no gore or sexual content, though a battle can turn tense when a mission goes wrong. It suits a relaxed evening session, a game running alongside a podcast, or long stretches of fleet management and ship upgrades. It is built for players who want strategy-lite space management and gentle sci-fi humour without heavy story pressure.
