What it’s like

Bright, saturated Inkopolis colours give way to a dim, grimy underworld of concrete tunnels, flickering fluorescent tubes, and abandoned subway platforms washed in cold teal and violet light. The palette shifts constantly between the cartoon neon of the surface and the murky, claustrophobic greens and blacks below, with ink splattering across walls in glossy, paint-slick textures. Sound leans on squelchy, bouncy synth percussion and an eerie, echoing ambience that stretches out during quiet exploration and erupts into punchy electronic beats during battles. Pacing is brisk and mission-driven, with short, replayable stages that reward experimenting with different weapons and movement, and the tone moves from playful whimsy to a lightly uneasy mystery as Agent 8 pieces together her lost past alongside Pearl, Marina and Cap'n Cuttlefish. Intensity is low: the combat is colourful squid-ink shooting with no gore, blood, or real menace, and the tension comes from atmosphere and curiosity rather than fear. It suits players who want a cosy, moderately eerie single-player shooter to dip into in short sessions, and fans who want a slightly darker, puzzle-flavoured side story before returning to multiplayer.
