The story

Join Captain Piper Faraday, smuggler and occasional pirate, as she recruits a rag-tag team of steam-driven robots and sets out on a daring adventure. With your hearty crew you’ll board, loot and shoot your way through enemy spaceships. Overcome the challenges of the vast frontier by upgrading your robots with unique abilities, weapons – and even stylish hats!

What it’s like

Chunky hand-painted 2D sprites with bright, warm colour against deep blue-black space, and a steampunk palette of brass, copper and rust that glints under cabin lights and starfield. Sessions suit a relaxed evening or a long-haul flight: the turn-based combat is tactical but unhurried, with clean sparks, ricochet shots and little puffs of steam, and the soundtrack leans on bouncy, upbeat chiptune-flavoured melodies with whistles and clanking percussion. Ship interiors and planetary outposts feel lived-in and tidy, full of tinkering, shopping and hat-customising between jobs. The tone is playful and warm, with quick jokes and a crew of quirky robots whose gruff, comic banter carries the emotional register; the arc follows a scrappy captain assembling her team and learning to trust them. Violence is cartoonish and bloodless: robots blow apart into scrap, with no gore and no sexual content, though some firefights are fairly intense. It suits fans of tactical strategy who want charm over grimness, and anyone after a light, rewarding game with a steady sense of progress and a warm, friendly world.
