The story

After Tanu and Manu's marriage breaks apart, the latter finds himself smitten by Datto, a lookalike of his ex-wife. But the estranged couple's feelings begin to spark again.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated north Indian street colour: marigold yellows, bottle-green shutters, rickshaw-blue and dusty sunlight spilling over crowded lanes in Kanpur and Delhi, with plenty of handheld energy and quick cuts through weddings, bazaars and sweaty train platforms. The sound is busy and warm, full of Bollywood-style pop numbers, dhol drums, chatter and honking traffic, with the occasional softer string cue when the lovers drift toward something tender. The vibe is breezy, bickering and warm-hearted, a sitcom-like comedy that tips into romance with plenty of sharp dialogue and physical slapstick. Pacing is brisk and jokey, with musical interludes breaking up the scenes, and the emotional register stays light even when the central couple's history turns messy. Its arc follows two exes who keep colliding and reconsidering each other, with a lot of playful misunderstanding along the way. Intensity is low: there is some drinking, a bit of raucous shouting and mild innuendo, but no violence or gore and nothing frightening. It suits a lazy weekend afternoon, a comfort rewatch with friends, or a light evening after a long week, and it is for people who enjoy big, chaotic, funny romances with a lot of heart and a wedding-season glow.
