The story

Similar to the previous work "Tears to Tiara: The Land of the Flower Crown", it is an "adventure + simulation RPG" that follows the fantasy world view and repeats the adventure part and the turn-based battle part to advance the story. It is also positioned as a gaiden work, and the battle system has been changed and added according to the original story.

What it’s like

Tears to Tiara Gaiden: Avalon no Nazo is a side story to Aquaplus's Tears to Tiara, and it keeps the same rhythm: a stretch of talk and exploration, then a turn-based battle, then back again. The pace is unhurried and deliberately episodic, with the mystery of Avalon unspooling in small reveals rather than large set pieces. Its mood sits somewhere between wistful and eerie, a fantasy world of old legends and half-remembered histories where the land itself feels like it is keeping secrets. The character art is warm and expressive, and the dialogue carries most of the emotional weight, so the quieter scenes often land harder than the fights. The battle system has been reworked for this entry, giving the grid-based combat a slightly different texture from its predecessor, with tactical choices that reward patience over speed. Players who enjoy a long, text-driven fantasy narrative with strategy layered underneath, and who are happy to let a mystery unfold slowly, will find much to settle into here.
