The story
The Nioh Collection is a package released by Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo in February 2021. This collection includes remastered versions of both Nioh games, optimized for next-gen consoles. Specifically, it features: - Nioh Remastered - Complete Edition: The original Nioh game, along with all its DLC expansions (Dragon of the North, Defiant Honor, and Bloodshed's End), enhanced for improved graphics, faster load times, and support for 4K resolution and up to 120 FPS on compatible hardware. - Nioh 2 Remastered - Complete Edition: The second installment, including all its DLC expansions (The Tengu's Disciple, Darkness in the Capital, and The First Samurai), also optimized with enhanced visuals, performance, and technical improvements.
What it’s like
Murky, rain-soaked Sengoku-era battlefields in ash greys, mud browns and sudden arterial red, with lantern glow pooling in dark shrines and mist coiling through bamboo groves and burnt villages. The camera stays close and third-person, so every clash of steel, stagger and recovery lands in the hands. Sound leans on clanging blades, war drums, wind over empty ground and whispered ghostly voices, with long tense silences in ruins broken by sharp bursts of noise. The vibe is grim, stubborn and atmospheric: dread mixed with grinding momentum and the quiet satisfaction of a hard-won victory after many deaths. Violence is constant and graphic, with frequent gore, blood sprays, dismemberment and monstrous yokai; fear comes from ambush and attrition rather than jump scares, and there is no sexual content. Pacing is deliberate and punishing, rewarding patience and gear-hunting, and co-operative play eases the pressure. Suited to late-night solo sessions or weekend co-op grinds, for players who want demanding, brutal action inside a bleak, richly textured world, with crisp high-frame-rate combat that keeps the fast fights readable.
