The story

The continuing adventures of paranormal investigators Dr. Peter Venkman, Dr. Egon Spengler, Dr. Ray Stantz, Winston Zeddemore, their secretary Janine Melnitz and their mascot ghost Slimer.

What it’s like

Bright, hand-drawn 1980s cel animation with saturated primaries, glowing green slime, and nighttime New York in deep blue and purple, with proton beams that flash orange and white across the screen. Episodes move at a brisk Saturday-morning clip, with quick cuts, chase sequences, and a steady pulse of synth-tinged incidental music. The register is playful and fast, with a lot of wisecracking banter between four paranormal investigators and their office staff, and an ever-present green ghost mascot who steals scenes. A ghost of the week gets captured, usually after some cheerful bickering and a comic misstep. The violence is cartoonish: monsters are zapped, sent flying, and trapped in containment traps, with no gore and little real menace. Scares are mild and playful, closer to Halloween fun than horror. It suits a lazy weekend morning, a nostalgic rewatch, or background viewing with kids. It's for people who want light, goofy spookiness and an easygoing, low-stakes adventure with a warm sense of humour.
