The story

When the infamous "Sweet Sixteen Killer" returns 35 years after his first murder spree to claim another victim, 17-year-old Jamie accidentally travels back in time to 1987, determined to stop the killer before he can start.

What it’s like

Bright 1980s pastel teen-horror styling: neon-pink and mint Halloween decorations, big-hair mall glamour, synth-pop cues and a glossy, saturated digital image that feels like a VHS memory brought up to modern polish. The camera stays lively and mobile, with quick cuts, cheeky zooms and staged set-piece slasher compositions that wink at the genre's conventions, while the nighttime suburban streets glow in streetlamp orange and carnival lights. The vibe is giddy, sugary and self-aware, a bubbly horror comedy that suits a Friday night with friends, a Halloween-season watch or a playful comfort rewatch. Pacing is brisk and the tone bounces between goofy and tender, following a teenager who is funny, sharp and slightly embarrassed by her mother, and whose relationship with that mother softens as the two find common ground. Violence is present and stylised: several kills played for laughs with splashes of stage blood, with some suspense and jump scares but little real gore and no sexual content. It is best for people who want horror that is fun rather than frightening, with a nostalgic eighties flavour and a warm, knowing sense of humour.
