The story

Rooh Baba ventures into a haunted mansion in the kingdom of Raktaghat in West Bengal, where he confronts two vengeful spirits, both asserting to be Manjulika.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated studio colour meets candlelit gloom in this Hindi horror-comedy, with the mansion's dim corridors lit by flickering lamps, ornate carved doors, and deep red and gold hangings that glow against black shadow. Camera work leans on big theatrical frames, sweeping reveals and quick cuts into jump scares, while the score swings from playful dhol-and-strings numbers to eerie choral swells and sudden silences before a shriek. The Bengal setting arrives through monsoon-damp courtyards, old brick and wooden balconies, and the performative gaiety of a royal household. Its vibe is loud, campy and mischievous, with spooky moments undercut by slapstick and song, and it suits a Friday night with friends, a playful group watch, or a lighthearted scare when you want fright without dread. Pacing is brisk and comic, with the central character's bravado repeatedly punctured and a larger ensemble of eccentric characters bickering, scheming and reconciling. Intensity is mild: jump scares and creepy apparitions, some peril and menace, but no gore and little real violence; the horror is cartoonish rather than disturbing. It is for viewers who want a fun, mildly spooky crowd-pleaser with music, comedy and glamour.
