The story

Celebrate Doom's 25th anniversary with the re-release of Doom II. This beloved sequel to the groundbreaking Doom (1993) gave players the brutal Super Shotgun to bear against deadlier demons, and the infamous boss, the Icon of Sin. The re-release of DOOM II includes: - The Master Levels, 20 additional levels made by the community and supervised by the developers - Local 4 player multiplayer - Local 4 player co-op To save Earth, you must descend into the depths of hell, survive demon hordes, and take part in the fiercest battle ever.

What it’s like

Hard-edged, saturated hellscapes: rust-brown and blood-red brick, lurid green acid pools, and flickering torchlight throwing long shadows across slabs of grey stone. The 2019 re-release keeps the original pixelated sprite-based demons and low-poly geometry, but it sharpens the palette and smooths the frame rate so every shotgun blast and imp fireball reads cleanly. The soundscape is a relentless industrial metal pulse, with guttural demon roars, the chunky clack of reloading, and the bass thud of the Super Shotgun cutting through silence between waves. Movement is fast and strafe-heavy, rhythm built on sprinting through corridors, pivoting to kill, and sprinting again, so the pace feels like a full-throttle adrenaline spike rather than a slow burn. Vibe: loud, ferocious, unrelenting. This is intense, bloody combat with frequent gore, dismemberment, and constant demonic threat; fear is pulse-raising rather than dread-based, and nothing here is gentle. It suits a fast, loud session with friends in local co-op or split-screen, or a solo night of wanting to cut loose. It is for players who love arcade-speed FPS action, retro-styled levels, and the satisfaction of overwhelming odds.
