The story

The Marble Nest is a DLC for Pathologic 2, offering a self-contained story. Play for a single day as Dr. Daniil Dankovsky, a scientist from the Capital, a fighter of death, and another doctor trying to save the Town alongside the Haruspex, and uncover a different perspective on the events—and Death itself.

What it’s like

Dusty ochre and sepia streets under a bruised, overcast sky, with lantern-lit interiors that glow amber against deep shadow, and the grimy, hand-painted texture of a provincial steppe town half-buried in plague. Sound carries most of the mood: wind dragging across empty squares, distant bells, sparse strings and folk-tinged drones that rise only when something is wrong. The rhythm is deliberate and anxious, built around a clock that keeps counting down while you walk, scavenge, and talk to people who may be lying. Its tone is bleak and melancholy, with a dread that accumulates rather than jumps, and its characters are compromised, grieving or frightened people whose arcs move toward resignation or an uneasy reckoning. Intensity is high: frequent violence, blood, plague sores and body horror rendered in lingering detail, plus unsettling psychological cruelty, though much of the menace is atmospheric. Best for players who want a moody, demanding survival-adventure with a strong sense of place, and who don't mind a slow, punishing grip on their attention.
