The story
A pair of newlyweds must fight to survive when their wedding reception descends into chaos and carnage when their guests become infected by a virus that turns them into hungry zombies.
What it’s like
Harsh handheld digital video dominates here, shaky and close, with sudden spikes of blown-out flash and the grainy wobble of a camcorder shot by a guest who keeps trying to stay on the couple. Much of it lives in a crowded, overlit banquet hall of white tablecloths and fairy lights that turns sickly and frantic once the noise starts, then drops into stairwells, dim corridors and dark rooms lit by a single torch or a phone screen. The sound design leans on shrieks, wet impacts, and a panicked soundtrack of muffled voices, with brief pockets of near silence that make each lunge land harder. Pacing is relentless once it starts, a mix of chaotic set pieces and slapstick-tinged absurdity, with a playful, irreverent streak running under the gore. Intensity is high: frequent graphic gore, flesh-tearing violence and bodily horror, with jump scares throughout, though much of the mayhem is comic-exaggerated rather than bleak. Best suited to late-night viewing with friends who enjoy loud, messy horror comedy and don't mind the nausea of shaky-cam, not to anyone wanting something gentle or quiet.
