The story
This compilation includes the entire RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 series, with the original game as well as the Time Twister and Wacky Worlds expansions.
What it’s like
Bright, chunky isometric sprites of cartoon guests drift along paths lined with flower beds, ice-cream stalls and roaring coasters, all in saturated primary colours that soften into warm dusk glows as the day cycles. You can rotate and zoom the camera until you're close enough to watch individual riders throw up their arms, while a looping, cheerful carnival tune sits under clattering ride noise and chatter. The Time Twister expansion swaps sunny midways for historical eras, and Wacky Worlds brings fantastical and sci-fi settings, so the palette stretches from dusty ruins to neon-edged futures. The feel is busy, bouncy and pleasantly absorbing, a toybox that rewards patience. Pacing is unhurried and self-directed: tinkering with rides, adjusting queues, and watching guest happiness figures climb in the background. Intensity is very low, with no violence or gore, only cartoon mishaps and the occasional queasy guest. It suits a lazy afternoon, background play while listening to a podcast, or a comfort session with a cup of tea. It's for players who love building and managing a world at their own pace, and for younger players who want gentle, colourful sandbox play.
