The story

This time around, Chucky and his homicidal honey, Tiffany, are brought back to life by their orphan offspring, Glen. Then the horror goes Hollywood as Chucky unleashes his own brand of murderous mayhem!

What it’s like

Bright, candy-coloured horror shot like a glossy Hollywood satire, with saturated reds and pinks, studio-lot sunshine, and a knowing self-awareness that treats every kill as a punchline. The camera moves with a sitcom-brisk energy, cutting fast between gaudy sets, dim sound stages and mock-serious close-ups of a doll's rubbery face, while the score swings between tinkling toy-box melodies and crashing stingers. Its vibe is campy, raucous and wink-heavy, the kind of thing for a sleepover, a messy Friday night with friends, or a laughing rewatch rather than a lights-off scare. The tone is irreverent and deliberately sleazy, with the central arc about an awkward, ill-suited family reunion, handled with more affection than menace. Violence is frequent and cartoonishly gory, with splashy kills, profanity, sexual innuendo and a few brief nude moments, but the blood reads as slapstick rather than dread. Recommended for fans of slasher parody who want gleeful gore, dark jokes and a doll with attitude, and not for anyone wanting something gentle.
