The story

A Punjabi man returning to India falls in love with a woman whose family welcomes him as a guest before realizing he is the man they need to kill in order to avenge their loved ones.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated Punjabi wedding-season colour: marigold yellows, bridal reds and sun-washed Chandigarh streets, with the energy of a Bollywood frame pushed to its loudest. Camera work is mobile and playful, with quick zooms into comic reactions, slapstick timing in crowded rooms and big song-and-dance set pieces that tip into flat-out action when fists start flying. The score is brassy dhol, bhangra beats and glossy romantic ballads, so it sounds as festive as it looks. Violence is present and stylised, a string of bouts and chases played for spectacle and laughs rather than gore, with some sharp fights and mild threat rather than anything grim. Romance and banter carry the middle stretch, and the mood stays warm and mischievous, shifting to rousing as the stakes rise. It suits a weekend movie night with friends, a lighthearted watch when you want noise, colour and laughter, or a fun Friday-evening rewatch. It is for people who enjoy masala entertainment: music, a charming lead, bright comedy and action with a light touch.
