The story

This substantial expansion consists of four episodes that take experienced players through some of the most advanced and challenging puzzles yet. The Talos Principle writers Tom Jubert and Jonas Kyratzes have returned to pen the expansion and show players an entirely different side of Elohim's world through a journey to Gehenna filled with new characters and a new society with its own history and philosophy.

What it’s like

Sunlit stone ruins, overgrown courtyards and bright blue sky give this expansion a warm, unhurried look, with lasers, fans and jammers glowing against weathered masonry. The soundtrack stays ambient and reflective, with long gaps of wind and birdsong between the chimes of puzzle mechanics. Its tone is contemplative and wry, shaped by a voice that asks questions about faith, memory and what it means to be a thinking machine. Four episodes of increasingly demanding puzzles set a steady, deliberate pace, where you pause, hypothesise and experiment rather than rush. The emotional arc follows a new society with its own history, and the story unfolds through terminals, recordings and conversation rather than action. Intensity is low: there is no gore and no combat, only the quiet tension of a stubborn puzzle and the occasional stinging failure. It suits a slow evening alone with headphones, a patient stretch of thinking, or a rainy afternoon. It is made for players who enjoy cerebral challenges and reflective science fiction, and who want their puzzles to carry ideas as well as obstacles.
