The story
After a shipwreck, an intelligent robot called Roz is stranded on an uninhabited island. To survive the harsh environment, Roz bonds with the island's animals and cares for an orphaned baby goose.
What it’s like
Soft, painterly 2D-meets-3D animation with a watercolour-like richness: lush forest greens, sea-spray blues, and warm amber sunsets that bleed into the frame, all rendered with a gentle, hand-touched texture rather than glossy CGI. The camera often holds on wide natural vistas, rain-soaked meadows, and close, quiet moments between a metal figure and small animals, so the island feels both vast and intimate. The score leans on tender strings and soft piano, with the wind, birdsong and surf doing much of the talking. The vibe is warm, wistful and nostalgic, with a bittersweet undertow, and it suits a rainy Sunday, a family movie night, or a comfort watch when you want something sincere. Pacing is unhurried, with a steady rhythm of small domestic gestures and growing bonds. Its emotional arc follows a stranded outsider slowly learning to care and be cared for, and the bond between a robot and an orphaned gosling carries most of the feeling. Intensity is low: a few tense moments of storm, predators and injury, but no gore and no real cruelty, with peril handled gently. It is for families and anyone who wants kindness, nature and a little tears-behind-the-smile sentiment.
