The story

Dark Souls III: Deluxe Edition is a special edition of Dark Souls III, released in April 2016. It includes the base game along with a detailed art book and a soundtrack CD. The Deluxe Edition also comes with a collectable steel book case. The digital edition includes all DLC expansions.

What it’s like

Ash-grey and ember-lit, with washed-out stone and fog broken by the warm orange pulse of bonfires and the sickly green of poisoned swamps. Gothic cathedrals crumble into smoky wastelands, and the camera stays close behind a heavy-armoured knight, so every step lands with weight: steel clanks on flagstone, wind moans through empty halls, and a sparse, mournful score swells only for the big fights. The mood is melancholy and punishing, a decayed-kingdom dread that rewards patience. Pacing is deliberate and cyclical, with progress coming in rest-and-retry loops rather than cinematic set pieces. The people you meet are weary and half-lost, and the arcs trend toward quiet resolve over redemption. Violence is frequent and close-up: sword and spear combat with blood spray, impalements, and grisly corpses, though it rarely lingers past the brutal hit. Fear comes from ambush and attrition, not jump scares. Not gentle. Best for players who want a grim, challenging hush for long solitary nights, and who enjoy grinding through hostile beauty alone or with friends who summon them into the fight.
