The story
When an NRI bridegroom is found dead days before his wedding in the countryside of Punjab, two cops must unravel the troubling case as turbulence unfolds in their own lives.
What it’s like
Winter fog hangs over flat Punjabi fields, and the palette runs to washed-out greys, dust-brown earth and the sallow glow of tube lights in police stations and village homes. Scenes often unfold in long, watchful takes, with the camera holding on faces and empty roadsides while ambient sound (wind through crops, distant voices, a motorbike cutting through silence) carries more weight than the score, which stays sparse and low. The pace is slow and deliberate, building a sense of unease and social pressure that surfaces in tight interiors and cramped family spaces. Violence is present and can land hard, including brief but brutal moments and some disturbing material around the crime, though it stays grounded rather than stylised. The emotional register is bleak and tense, with a cold, clear-eyed look at power, corruption and the strain of a community's secrets. Its people carry the weight of their roles and personal crises in tight, quiet ways. It suits viewers who want a moody, serious thriller for a late evening, not something gentle or light.
