The story
"May you find your book in this place." Combat between the guests and the librarians breaks out as if it were on a stage. Defeated guests turn into books, and the Library grows onward. And eventually, get your hands on… The one singular, perfect book.
What it’s like
Stark, storybook-grim art: crisp, hand-drawn character portraits in stark ink-and-watercolor tones set against muted, dusty library interiors, with the sheen of old paper and gilt-edged tomes everywhere. The soundtrack leans on mournful strings, sparse piano and eerie choral textures, with quiet stretches of near-silence between fights. Combat plays out like a theatrical staging, with chunky card-driven turns and abrupt, stylised flourishes when a battle breaks loose. Vibe: melancholic, eerie, quietly absurd, like a hushed gallery after closing time. Its pacing is deliberate and fitfully rhythmic: long stretches of managing the Library and reading its strange residents, then sudden bursts of tense, dice-and-card strategy. The emotional register is wistful and uncanny, with the arcs of its librarians and guests tilting toward loss, obsession and reluctant care. Violence is frequent and stylised, with bloodless fights that turn defeated foes into books, though some scenes carry grim, disturbing imagery and dread rather than gore. Best for players who enjoy turn-based deck-building, dark fantasy atmosphere and slow-burn mystery, and who are comfortable with a bleak, unsettling tone.
