The story
After the Avengers are overtaken by a zombie plague, a desperate group of survivors discover the key to bringing an end to the super-powered undead, racing across a dystopian landscape and risking life and limb to save their world.
What it’s like
Bright, glossy 3D animation with saturated superhero colours set against grey, rust-brown ruins, so the decay looks almost pretty until the blood arrives. Wide wrecked cityscapes, dusty highways and dim interiors are lit by hard sunlight, emergency-red warning glows and flickering neon, while the score leans on pounding percussion and synth pulses that spike during fights. The vibe is grim, sardonic and punchy, with dark humour undercutting the dread. It suits a night in with a bowl of snacks or a loud weekend binge, not quiet contemplation. Pacing is fast and episodic, with frequent chases and set-piece battles. Violence is frequent, graphic and bloody: zombified heroes are torn apart, dismembered and eaten, and the gore is played for shock as much as spectacle. Emotionally it is tragic beneath the jokes, following a ragged band of survivors who grieve and cling to one another. For fans of irreverent, gory genre fun who can handle heavy, explicit horror, and not a fit for anyone seeking something gentle.
