The story

A kindly old inventor created a park and filled it with incredible puzzle-like climbing toys called Pushmo. But a little trickster has trapped kids inside the Pushmo, and now it’s up to our hero, Mallo, to push, pull and climb his way through the puzzling playground to save his friends! The Pushmo game features more than 250 fun and challenging puzzles. As you solve them, you’ll discover new gadgets that will add to the challenge. Complete certain sets of Pushmo to open additional game features, such as Pushmo Studio, which lets you create, play and even share your very own Pushmo puzzle creations.

What it’s like

Bright, flat-colored blocks stacked into chunky pictographic walls, each puzzle a little diorama you read like a drawing: the look is clean, toy-like and softly lit, with the 3D effect giving the pale stone and wooden crates a gentle depth. Sound is sparse and playful, with bouncy chimes, soft thuds as Mallo shoves a block into place, and a light, tinkling score that never rushes you. The vibe is warm, low-stakes calm with a satisfying click of cleverness, the kind of thing to pick up for a quiet half hour on the sofa or a lazy afternoon in bed. Pacing is self-directed: each stage is a sequence of small, legible puzzles that escalate gradually, and retries cost nothing, so frustration stays brief. Emotionally it is light and encouraging, following a cheerful little hero who pushes, pulls and climbs his way toward his friends. There is no violence, gore or fear; the only danger is a tumble back to the start. Good for anyone who wants gentle, clever puzzling with an artful toybox look, and especially suited to younger players and to adults who enjoy tidy spatial problems.
