The story
Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration includes the critically acclaimed Rise of the Tomb Raider. With over 50 hours of gameplay and all-new content created to celebrate 20 years of the iconic Lara Croft. In the critically acclaimed Tomb Raider, Lara Croft was forged into a true survivor, but she glimpsed a deeper, secret world.
What it’s like
Snow-dusted mountain ranges under flat grey skies, then sudden bursts of golden light spilling through ruined stone, and a Siberian forest that turns from bright autumn gold to murky green-brown as the hours pass. The palette leans on cold blues and rust, with firelit campsites and glowing relic chambers providing warmth in the dark. The camera sits close behind Lara over her shoulder, so every climb and slide feels physical, and a survival-instinct mode tints the world with a muted amber glow that lights up handholds and hidden paths. The score swells with orchestral strings and percussion during fights and climbs, then drops to wind, creaking timber and distant birdsong in quieter stretches. Violence is frequent and bloody: gunfights, animal attacks and brutal kills with visible wounds, though nothing sexual and little gore beyond the combat. Pacing alternates tense set pieces with long stretches of exploration, puzzle tombs and optional side tasks. Emotionally it is driven by a young woman hardening under pressure while gradually finding her own resolve. Suited to players who want an atmospheric, action-heavy adventure with a long campaign and generous extras, not a gentle one.
