The story
A demon possessed you one year ago. Since that day, you unwillingly tore a trail of bloodshed through New York City. Your salvation comes in the form of the Unavowed – an ancient society dedicated to stopping evil. You are free, but your world is in tatters. You have no home, no friends, and are wanted by the police. Your old life is gone, but perhaps you can start a new one. Join the ranks of the Unavowed, and fight against the oncoming darkness.
What it’s like
Unavowed is a pixel-art point-and-click set in a moody, lamplit present-day New York, where hand-drawn backdrops of rain-slick streets, dim bars, cluttered apartments and shadowy subway platforms sit in a muted palette of blues, ochres and sickly greens. Character portraits are expressive and slightly stylized, and the soundtrack leans on low synth pads and sparse guitar that swell during tense investigations and fall quiet in between. Its vibe is brooding but wry: a late-night, rain-on-the-window adventure with a dry sense of humour and a steady undercurrent of unease. Exploration is unhurried, with long stretches of talking, poking through rooms, and assembling inventory puzzles, and the pace rises only when a case tightens. The arc follows a damaged protagonist, a former demon host, slowly rebuilding trust and a sense of belonging among a small band of occult investigators. Violence is mostly implied or happens off-screen, with some dark themes, a few grim deaths, and a supernatural horror edge; it is not gory. It suits players who want a thoughtful, mystery-driven game for a quiet evening, and fans of classic adventure games with clever puzzles and character-driven storytelling.
