The story

The WipEout HD Fury expansion pack increases the content of the acclaimed racing game with 8 new tracks, 13 new ship models and 3 new game modes, 2 of which will be available for online play! In addition there will be new trophies to attain, a re-styled front-end and a selection of new & improved multiplayer functionality!

What it’s like

Hard-edged electronic music pulses through every race, and the screen is a rush of neon-trimmed tunnels, chrome ships skimming a few metres above a glowing track, and bloom-heavy light that flares off every boost pad. The HD sheen gives the sleek, high-speed visuals a glassy, slightly cold finish, with sharp geometry and fast-moving colour that rewards looking up rather than down. The vibe is kinetic, exhilarating and cool-headed, the sort of focused adrenaline that suits a late-evening session alone, a long-haul flight with headphones on, or a stretch of background intensity while working. Pacing is brisk and relentless: races are short bursts of precision, where a single missed boost or clipped wall can cost a podium, and the rhythm of the soundtrack keeps the tempo tight throughout. Intensity is low in the traditional sense, with no blood, gore or character violence, only the mechanical tension of crashes, explosions of sparks, and the strain of holding a line at speed. It is for players who want skill-based, competitive racing with a futuristic aesthetic and a clean, stylish surface, and who enjoy chasing personal bests and unlocking trophies at their own pace.
