The story

Retired military commander Colonel Dale Murphy hosts the simulated post-apocalyptic reality show where participants are challenged to survive a remote West Virginia wasteland. But the show turns into a nightmarish showdown when each realizes they are being hunted by an inbred family of cannibals determined to make them all dinner!

What it’s like

Harsh daylight and grimy, saturated woodland gloom give this one a rough, low-budget horror surface: sweaty close-ups, handheld jolts through dense Appalachian undergrowth, and crude practical gore lit by flat fluorescents and muddy dusk. The score leans on heavy industrial thrum and sudden stingers, so the soundtrack hits hard and the quiet stretches feel tense rather than restful. Its vibe is brash, nasty, and loud, a sequel that leans into reality-TV sleaze and backwoods menace with a wink. Pacing is brisk, with the cast of competitors picked off one by one in escalating set pieces. The violence is frequent and graphic, including dismemberment, bloody slashing and cannibal-feast imagery, and there are incest and cruelty undertones in the family at its center. Expect dread that quickly becomes spectacle. It suits a late-night horror binge or a rowdy group watch, and it is aimed at fans of slasher sequels, gore-forward survival horror, and Henry Rollins playing a cold, bombastic host. It is definitely not gentle.
